A fun goal that I picked up from other people’s 101 in 1001 lists was participating in PostCrossing.com. Angela’s doing it too. One of the reasons why I decided I wanted to do it was because the suomiphile in me loved the fact that Finland is the #1 participating country in PostCrossing. And sure enough we both got a Finnish address for our first postcard!
So far I’ve sent to Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland and Australia. The Switzerland one was received so I’m now sending the next card to Canada. The system only lets you send 5 at a time.
I bought the first couple cards from Angela who’d looted the nearby tourist traps on Hollywood Blvd for typical Hollywood themed cards. But the next bunch are going to come from a book of dog postcards I bought long ago to send to Grandma & Grandpap. Obviously I never did and they’ve passed away now.

The postcard book is of dog photos by Kim Levin of Bark & Smile and is out of print according to Amazon. I’d listed mine for sale there but it didn’t sell. I also have a postcard book of Bettie Page photos which feature a lot of topless shots. I’m not sure whether or not I could use those or will it just make people mad.
Angela had the cool idea of using our own photos for postcards a la Moo and she’s already put hers in. I still need to get my photos organized (hello list #13) but I’ve got tons of great ones I can think of. It’d be funny to take the goofy pictures of the Finns and send it back to Finnish people. But I probably won’t cause it’s not like they were taken at a concert or a signing so would rather keep them personal.
I just need to figure out what to do with the postcards I’ll start receiving… I’ve got older ones from friends and family too. Perhaps I should have extended this list item a bit to include that.
