a note to myself
For #13 on my list which is organizing photos, there was a question of what kind of “storage” to use for digital photos. External hard drives fail. Media fails or gets scratched. So what then?
Answer: Dreamhost’s Files Forever. For 1c/4 megs, they’ll store files indefinitely (for as long as they offer the service). I’ve good faith that they’ll be around for a while. They’re already 10 years old which is ancient for a web host. And if they go away, it won’t be without notice so will be able to download again if needed.
So now starts the tedious process of gathering & zipping all my photos into groups for installing into Files Forever. Just uploaded all the pictures & video from the zoo & wild animal park which joins the Apocalyptica stuff already up there. But there’s so much more to go! Thank heavens for 2Mbps upload speed at work!
